Makeup Artist Spotlight
This week we are Spotlighting Makeup Artist Dawn Barrett (Everything Under the Sun). If you've not surfed Dawn's blog you really should, in addition to her papercrafting, she has some great sewing projects on there that her and her kids have done!
This is Dawns favorite of her PMS creations. Here is what Dawn had to say about her favorite card, "I
have attached an early PMS card...created when the company was just getting off
the ground. I really like this card b/c of the rustic/vintage
style and still have it in my stash. I think it's a novel look for
these fairies, who tend to be sparkly. Plus, this card shows how far PMS has
come! This sentiment is a rub-on. The flowers are an SU set, but
that was before PMS had flowers! And now, I have a large selection of
sentiments and background stamps produced by the Paper Makeup Company.
Kudos to Katie for growing such a successful company!"
Dawn is another DTer that I've been lucky enough to be on the team with since the beginning, I just love her stories about the kids and hearing about her sering contests with her family. Read below to get to know Dawn a little better yourself. When you're done, you can leave her a comment here or better yet, hop on over to her blog and leave her some love there.
4. What's your favorite flavor of ice cream? It would have to be chocolate chip cookie dough.
6. Do you have a favorite technique or style? It would have to be watercoloring. You can get any range of colors and shades by mixing colors.
7. What is your favorite color palette? I don't have a favorite palette. I go with colors that match the image and the season!
8. When your 'mojo' takes a spa day without you, what gets your creative juices flowing again? I take a couple of days off without thinking about stamping. Then, I make a "just for fun card" using a set of "oldies but goodie" stamp set.
9. When you aren't stamping, what do you like to do? This summer..,.lounging around the pool. But during the school year, I am volunteering at church and school, coaching soccer, leading a Girl Scout troop, etc, etc. But lately, I have gone back to reading...which was my favorite thing to do as a youth.
So I went searching for MY favorite on Dawn's blog. I tried finding an older card that was my fav, but this one just kept tugging at me. Dawn made this for one of the recent Makeup 4 the Weekend Challenges. I love the way Moody for Showers is colored (very signature "Dawn"), but the way she did those clouds along with the image... when I saw this for the challenge I was just speechless!
1. When
did you get started stamping? I
started stamping nearly 6 years ago after receiving some supplies from my
deceased grandmother's craft closet. After a few days on Splitcoast, I
realized that i needed a whole lot more!
2. Tell
me 5 songs or artists on your iPod right now. I
have a new mp3 player...still in the packaging. I prefer to listen to the
radio...loudly. haha. My music selections run the gammet. From classic
rock to today's dance hits. It all depends on my mood and who else is
singing along with me!
3. All Stylists have a go to accessory or tool... what's yours? I use my heat tool (which also came from my grandmother's craft closet) all the time...every day...non-stop. I watercolor most of my images and the embossing keeps the lines clean and strong.

4. What's your favorite flavor of ice cream? It would have to be chocolate chip cookie dough.
5. Where
do you find inspiration? I'm
inspired by who I stamp for. I think my cards/projects turn out much better when I have a specific person, or purpose, in mind.
6. Do you have a favorite technique or style? It would have to be watercoloring. You can get any range of colors and shades by mixing colors.
7. What is your favorite color palette? I don't have a favorite palette. I go with colors that match the image and the season!

10. Tell
us something, not stamping related, about you... I recently painted my kitchen in a lovely pear color. By the time
Christmas arrives, I hope to have repainted most of the house! (We'll see
how that fits into my already filled schedule. hehe)
That's all I've got for you today! You can visit Dawn on her blog, Everything Under the Sun.

September Guest Designer Spotlight
Alex has been coming to the PMS Release Parties for as long as I can remember and she absolutely cracks me up! Not only does she add to the atmosphere of the party but she's just chatty with everyone!
1. When did you get started in stamping?
I first started when friend invited me to a D.O.T.S. home party. Yes, I am THAT old, LOL. I got away from it for a bit while I was very focused on scrapbooking, then realized they could work together! What a thought!
2. All Stylists have a go to accessory or tool... what's yours?
My mini cutter. I know that doesn't sound very exciting or inspiring, but I find it impossible to cut smaller pieces or trim close to images with my regular 12 in. trimmer. I use my mini cutter on EVERYTHING I make.
3. Where do you find inspiration?
I love to look at people's blogs and just see what everyone is making. I have a card gallery as my home page so every time I get on the computer I see something amazing and inspiring.
4. What drew you to PMS?
THE FAIRIES! I fell in love with the fairies when PMS first opened their doors. Now I am hooked, completely and just adore the Moodies too.
5. What is your favorite color palette?
I am not sure I have a favorite color to work with, but my favorite color is purple. It doesn't often work for decorating my home or scrapbook pages since I am the mom of two boys. However, I can work it into a lot of cards. My second favorite would be BLING!
6. When you aren't stamping, what do you like to do?
Not stamping? When am I not stamping? I enjoy watching TV and movies. I grew up with my parents owning a video rental store and went on to work in a couple of others. I am a movie buff. I don't have much time to watch them anymore, but still love a good one.
7. Tell us something, not stamping related, about you...
I have a box a friend made for me that can't be gotten into without totally destroying it. I drop money in it whenever I can, even a quarter at a time, to save for a trip to the Greek Isles. That is my dream trip and one day I WILL be there!
Alex has such a clean style about her cards that it really puts the focus on the image (which she styles beautifully everytime!). I hope you've enjoyed Alex's creations this month as much as we have. Make sure you head over to her blog Paper and String to see more of Alex's creations and leave her some love while you are there. Before you go, we'd like to share a few of Alex's PMS cards with you...

When a girl puts on her mother's hat and shoes...
When a girl puts on her mother's hat and shoes, she enters a world of make believe in which she becomes whatever she dreams of. - E. K. George
Did you know this fabby sentiment is a wordart stamp in the recently released Arelia's World of Make Believe card kit? This is in addition to a super cute fairy (one of my favorites thus far) and another sweet simple sentiment. You can view all of the kit contents here!
This month we are trying something a little different... every wednesday is a kit day where a couple of Paper Makeup Artists are going to show you what they've been up to with the most recent kit release.
Today, Katie Cotton (thats me!) and Lisa Kind are going to show you some cards using this fun wordart!
First, here is my card... I also used one of the fabric sheets, the aqua sheer ruffle ribbon and some of the institches blossoms.
And here is Lisa's card! She also used some of the in stitches blossoms but also the pink satin ribbon and different papers. I love how soft and lush her card looks, don't you agree?!
This kit is around a $25 value but we are selling it for only $20! Here's a special insight... October 2nd is World Cardmaking Day! We will be having some fun challenges as well as releasing another card kit BUT in order to win some of the biggest prizes... you have to use one of our previous card kits to win! So, check them out!!!!
Have a wonderful day!!!

Makeup Artist Spotlight
This week we are Spotlighting Senior Makeup Artist Tina Hale (Wooded Views). As I am driving down the Southern California freeway to work everyday, I think about the "wooded views" Tina has because I just LOVE where she lives... HOLY SNICKERDOODLES... I wanna driveway like hers (as long as we can hire out the snow shoveling ;)).
This is Tina's favorite of her PMS creations, here's what she said about it, "It's one I made recently for the Makeup for the Weekend challenge. I like it
because it came together quickly, was exactly what I imagined it to be, and the
colors are striking. I like all the layers I was able to incorporate without
overdoing it."
I went snooping around Tina's blog to find MY favorite but I couldn't narrow it down to just one (I mean she's been on the team since the very beginning and there were lots to choose from!), so these are my two favorites. This one I love because her coloring is just gorgeous! She did a fabulous job with the sky & grass too!!!
And this one I love because of all the details! The gloss and shimmer of the fruit, all those layers and the bling!! Just beautiful!
I've had a little more time to "get to know" Tina than I have with some of the other DTers. In addition to being just the sweetest thing, she just cracks me up! I love "chit chats" with her because she always makes me giggle! One of things I admire about Tina's stamping is that her CAS cards are just as beautiful as her "very" detailed cards! Here's a little more about Tina...
1. When did you get started stamping? About 3 years ago. I went to a stamping party and that was all she wrote. And, although I have always been somewhat crafty, stamping is my outlet for all the stress in my work life and I am so glad I found it.
2. Tell me 5 songs or artists on your iPod right now. Can you believe I don't have an Ipod? I am so far behind the times.
3. All Stylists have a go to accessory or tool... what's yours? I guess mine would be ribbon. I have very few cards without some sort of ribbon or fiber. I also love little pops of black on my cards and projects. It always adds a little oomph.
4. What's your favorite flavor of ice cream? Well, ice cream is my weakness and is hands down my favorite type of dessert. Trying to choose a favorite flavor is much like choosing s favorite child. I always reach for Butter Pecan with Turtle Tracks running a very close second.
5. Where do you find inspiration? I love color and am usually drawn to things that have lots of it. Typically, these things are found during shopping excursions or looking through magazines and ads. Thank goodness for a camera on my phone, I can just snap a photo to use later on.
6. Do you have a favorite technique or style? I love making cards with lots of layers, the more the better. I also like cards with clean lines. I am not a technique girl at all, I want to try so many, but fear always wins out.
7. What is your favorite color palette? I am really loving chartreuse, aqua, and white at the moment. But, red and turquoise is a classic.
8. When your 'mojo' takes a spa day without you, what gets your creative juices flowing again? My mojo has been on vacation since May, but I have been inspired recently with some sketches. And, when I receive a new stamp or product, it tends to make me want to craft.
9. When you aren't stamping, what do you like to do? I love to cook and am always on the lookout for new and interesting recipes. I grew up in a family that never tried new things and I strive to be a more adventurous eater. Not wild game or anything, but something different than the same old meat and potatoes dinners. Exotic ingredients, different cooking techniques, and unique flavor combinations. I also love reading, at least when I get the chance to.
10. Tell us something, not stamping related, about you... I love the HBO series True Blood. LOVE
That's all I have for you today on Tina. You can leave a comment for her here or better yet head over to her blog, check out some eye candy and leave her a comment there (make sure you tell her I said "hey").
